Great service. Fun decor - lots of stuffed animals - bear, deer, raccoon etc. Fried chicken sandwich was quite large and very tasty - tender inside and crunchy outside. Pork BBQ was good too. Sauces excellent.

We like to try local places when we're on the road and Big Wood BBQ and Grill didn't let us down. We were there during the lunch rush and were promptly seated. We ordered their version of a Bloomin Onion and it was the best I've ever had. There were no soggy bottoms like those chains' Bloomin Onion. Our entrees were hamburgers with cheese and they were juicy and cooked to our specs. The sides we both had were sweet potato fries and fried okra. The burger came with fries and you can make substitutions. Our waitress greeted us as we were sitting down and stopped by frequently to check on us.

The pulled pork from here is OFF THE CHAIN!! Oh boy was it good, and some sweet southern women to give me my sweet tea! Always yummy when the service is quick. The place is very sports bar like and country diner at the same time!

First, it's kind of a local legend and fan favorite--the kind of place packed at 8pm on a freakin' Wednesday--yes, a Wednesday. The decor is Western/cowboy/hunter with a lot of taxidermied beasts and rustic woodwork. It's homey, comfy, and fun. There also is a full bar which is popular, especially when games are on that folks want to see. Service is friendly but could perhaps be a bit faster--it seemed like to-go orders came out faster than orders for in-house but I suppose if ordered ahead that only makes sense. They appear to have a drive-thru window, too, right off of the bar. As to the food, not bad BBQ pork but I've had better. The major issue is their house sauces are limited in variety and just not that great--okay, but not like wow. Not of the variety nor caliber of Pearl's in Micanopy, in example. But the pork itself is tasty and my sides--seasoned rice and green beans were great. Possibly in fact the best green beans I've ever had, even. Would I make a special trip up from my home in Newberry? Likely not, but I have friends up around here so it was a good place for us to meet up. If in the area it's a great choice and if you live in Live Oak or nearby, you've got to check it out.

On our drive from Pensacola to Orlando we were starving! I looked in good ol' Yelp to find a great place to eat and thus came up! It was a Sunday afternoon and it was busy! We didn't wait long. The place feels like a cozy cabin and the food was delicious! My chicken sandwich was ginormous

Our 4th of July motorcycle ride landed us at Big Wood Barbecue in Live oak. One of my favorite places to venture off to. My wife and I both had the grilled pork chops with a salad bar. Dawn also had a baked sweet potato. The food, as always was cooked and seasoned very well: The salad bar was good, well stocked and fresh, even Though it looked like it was getting hit pretty hard. Our server was Macy, she was polite, professional, and attentive to our requests and questions. The service was well above average. The restaurant is well lit and the staff stay busy keeping the tables bused, and the floor clean. The price is about normal for today's current prices. If you are in the Live Oak, Florida area give "Big Wood Barbecue a try.
